Hot stuff
Q. I'm getting married this summer and while I'm really hoping for a hot day, I know I'm going to end up with a shiny face. Can you recommend any products that will keep the shine to a minimum, and are there any 'mini products' that I can pop into my small bridal bag to reapply throughout the day?
A. Emma Hooley says: Clinique has a fabulous range of products designed to minimise pores and lessen the shine. Pore Minimizer refining mask will minimise the size and appearance of pores and help to control shine. Underneath your make-up use Pore Minimizer T-zone shine control, which is an oil-free gel that reduces and controls excessive shine and oiliness. It will also fit into your bridal bag. Pore minimiser oil blotting sheets keep skin clean, fresh and matt, and will blot up breakthrough oil through your make-up -perfect to take in your bridal bag for touch-ups. These products are for all skin types.

** Expert_Question TITLE **
Q. I am wearing a 1950s-style dress for my wedding and would like my make-up to complement my frock. What do you suggest?
A. Emma Hooley says: mma says Ask your make-up artist to create a modern day version of the ?movie star? look that was popular in the ?50s. In the 1950s the look was ultra feminine and very sophisticated. The base was always perfect by using the Max Factor Pan Stick that eliminated any imperfections, but a lighter foundation for your wedding day would be more appropriate. Eyebrows need to be well groomed with a defined arch, and any gaps filled in with an eyebrow pencil. A taupe eyeshadow in matt or shimmer should be used all over the lid, and black liquid eyeliner applied to the top lid in a line that thickens towards the outer end therefore creating a cats eye look. Several coats of black mascara need to then be applied concentrating on the outer lashes, or you could ask your make-up artist to apply false lashes. A pink blusher should be applied to the apples of your cheeks, and replace the red lipstick of the ?50s with a natural lip colour in matt with maybe a coat of clear gloss. |

Create a little drama
Q. I really want 'dramatic eyes' on my wedding day and I've worked out how to apply my eyeshadow, but I'm worried my short blonde eyelashes will let me down. Should I give up and keep my make-up natural, or is there anything else you can suggest?
A. Emma Hooley says: Emma says: I think that you should stay with 'dramatic eyes' and enhance the look with a good mascara. Dior Show Iconic high definition lash curling mascara is great. It has revolutionary oblique bristles which allow maximum extension of the lashes. There is no need to twist or zig zag the brush as it gives an amazing instant effect: eyelashes will be curled, spectacularly lengthened and defined. It has a new formula which memorises and retains the sculpting effects of the brush until the make-up is removed, and microbeads which give extra volume. Dior Show Iconic creates enviable, drop dead gorgeous eyes. It costs around £18.50 and is available in black, navy and chestnut.
The second option is eyelash extensions which are more expensive. These will cost from approximately £80 depending on how many inserts you require. Eyelash extensions provide length and thickness to your natural eyelashes thereby enhancing the allure of your eyes. Premium quality eyelash extensions need to be applied professionally to blend with your natural eyelashes. You can choose to apply mascara to your lash extensions but stick to water-based mascara. They will last for approximately six to eight weeks which is the average life of a natural eyelash. The lash extensions are curled to replicate the curve of the natural lashes, flat at the base and fine at the tip. |
