I want to shed my tomboy image

Q. I'm very excited about my wedding, which will be a fairly traditional do with a church ceremony and formal sit-down meal. My fiancé is wearing a morning suit and I need a gown that will complement his outfit and the formality of our day.
However, as a bit of a tomboy I am having trouble choosing a dress - everything's so girlie! Do you have any suggestions for a pear-shaped bride-to-be who always wears jeans and trainers?

A. Chloe Binyon says: You are not alone; a lot of girls live in jeans today, and as most of us don't lead a Sex And The City lifestyle, dressing up can feel rather alien.
This doesn't mean we shouldn't embrace the chance to glam up when the opportunity presents itself though. I would suggest trying on a range of dresses as you may surprise yourself. As you have a pear shape, ease away from designs that are bias cut or very straight. Dresses with fuller skirts are better suited to your figure but, if this feels too traditional for you, why not try a dress with a bit of colour instead of white or ivory?
Accessories are also a great way to add drama to a traditional gown without taking you too far out of your comfort zone. Plus, simply adding a veil can turn almost any dress into a 'bridal' one, and give you the formality you require - you can always remove it after the ceremony, although I bet you don't!

What will suit them all?

Q. My three bridesmaids couldn't be any different looks-wise. One has blonde hair and very fair skin, one has black hair and olive-coloured skin and the other is a redhead who always has a gorgeous golden tan in the summer. I want them to all look and feel fabulous at my August, 2011 wedding, but trying to find a colour that will suit them all is proving to be really tricky. Is there a one colour suits all solution, or should I let them wear a suitable shade of the same colour... or shall I just give up and let them wear the same style dress in a colour that suits? The most important thing for me is that they feel confident and happy. What do you suggest?

A. Chloe Binyon says: If you don't have any strong ideas on the colour you would like the girls to wear, work backwards.
First get rid of any hues you dislike, then get a feel for the colours and types of flowers that will be available at the time
of year you will be getting married. Remember flowers that are in season will photograph well in the sunshine.
Finally look for hues with a bluish or grey base as these work well on all skin tones and hair colours. Bright shades are very fashionable and can look amazing, but be cautious of pastels as these can make some women look very washed out.

Love my body; hate my arms

Q. I am 5ft 11in and a size 18. I know I'm far from petite, but I really love my hourglass figure. I want to show it off, but I also want to look feminine and demure. The only part of my body I'm not keen on is the tops of my arms. Do you have any suggestions for the style of gown that I should go for to show off my good bits and cover the bad? I'm completely open to any suggestions.

A. Chloe Binyon says: You don't have to be petite to look stunning in a wedding dress. In fact most dresses look better on someone with a few curves. I would start by looking at a soft A-line style, which will show off your waist. Pleating on a dress can also be very fl attering, but do avoid very bulky, pleated fabric. I don't think I've met a single girl recently who likes her arms.
Luckily for you and them, pretty lace boleros are feminine, demure and comfortable, and are very fashionable at the moment. For added confi dence, how about finding a style with a flattering with a flattering three-quarter-length sleeve?
